about

"There is a limit, even to the imagination, where our greatest creations meet our deepest fears. You are about to go beyond that limit."
-The Fly (1986)

The Pupa Trilogy is a cinematic piece for solo violin, percussion, electronic processing, and pre-recorded electronics. Inspired by the science fiction horror film “The Fly” (both Kurt Neumann’s 1958 original and David Cronenberg’s 1986 remake).
Pupa was commissioned in 2013 by choreographer Kim Neal Nofsinger for Interlochen Arts Camp. Following the format of horror cinema, two sequels were written. There is more to come.
